In April, we announced that the TruLink™ Hearing Control app and Halo hearing aids would be compatible with Apple® Watch. Now, TruLink 2.1 is here with some brand new updates!
TruLink works seamlessly with Halo™ hearing aids to provide users with remote control functionality, memory geotagging, direct streaming of calls, music and more. TruLink’s compatibility with various smart devices creates greater flexibility and accessibility for users to control and adjust their hearing aids in any environment.
TruLink allows users to do the following:
- Seamlessly stream music, phone calls, videos, FaceTime® calls, Siri® and other media directly to your Halo hearing aids.
- Easily adjust sound settings at any location by moving your finger around theSoundSpace screen to change the volume (high or low) and bass and treble presence.
- Use TruLink Memories to create personalized geo-tagged memories that will remember the geographical location and sound settings you created for that place. (e.g., If you have set your volume to decrease when entering your favorite coffee shop, Halo will automatically change to that memory setting upon your arrival.)
- Swipe your fingers left or right to adjust the volume of either both hearing aids together or each hearing aid individually with the simple Remote Control screen.
- Find your lost or misplaced hearing aids with the Find My Hearing Aidsfunction that provides the most recent location and time recorded.
TruLink 2.1 Updates Include:
- Improved memory geotagging capabilities with Memory Hub—a central access point for advanced memory features that allows users to change memory names, add location triggers, adjust automatic settings for memories and launch SoundSpace to create or delete memories
- Compatibility with various Pebble and Android Wear watches
- Updated TruLink User Manual with links directly to demonstration videos and feature descriptions
TruLink’s updated ability to work with multiple smart watch devices stems from a desire to provide increased flexibility and accessibility for hearing aid wearers. “The idea was to help them be less obvious about making a hearing aid adjustment if they could leave their iPhone in their pocket or purse,” Starkey Senior Strategic Software Manager Chris Howes said.
TruLink and Apple Devices
TruLink 2.1 and Halo hearing aids work with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple Watch. In addition to the above TruLink capabilities, users with an Apple Watch will also be able to control volume easily and effortlessly in any environment, change memories to personalized settings and mute the hearing aid microphones directly from the watch itself.
TruLink and Pebble Devices
Pebble, a smartwatch company founded in 2011, wanted to provide Pebble users with a fun, cool and less obvious way to manage their hearing aids. Pebble’s Head of Sales, Kristen Regelein, wears Halos and said the watches are “something that could blend in with what everyone else has but also have a function specially made for hearing aid user’s needs.”
Pebble users with Pebble Time, Pebble Steel or Pebble, will be able to manage hearing aid volume, change memories and mute the hearing aid microphones directly from the watch itself.
TruLink and Android Platform Devices
Halo and TruLink already work with various Android devices including Samsung Galaxy S 6, Samsung Galaxy S 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and others. Now with Android Wear, select models of smartwatches are now compatible with TruLink 2.1 and Halo hearing aids: Samsung Gear S, Moto 360 and Asus Zen Watch.
Users with any of these three watches will be able to change volume and mute the hearing aids, but Android Wear products will only work with Android phones that support TruLink.
Halo hearing aids are available in two styles: a receiver-in-canal (RIC) and behind-the-ear (BTE). For more information regarding Halo hearing aids please click here, or to schedule an appointment with a local hearing professional near you please visit our appointment page.
